Travel Highlights of 2016
2016 was a big year: I started a new job, created a new blog, and entered a new relationship status — fiancé! This year also contained many exciting new adventures, both domestic and international. From the snowy slopes of Park City to the sunny shores of Miami, Aruba’s divi divi trees to Dublin’s autumn leaves, it’s been quite the year of travel.
Here are my travel highlights of 2016!
Park City, Utah
Park City, Utah—home to a pictoresque downtown, the Sundance Film Festival, and some of the best skiing in the United States. We enjoyed a family vacation complete with stunning winter views early in 2016. It seems our trip was timely—Park City Utah was #12 on The New York Times’ 52 Places to Go in 2016 list.
Aruba, Jamaica, oooh I wanna take ya! This was the perfect destination for a relaxing baecation. Sun, sand, tropical drinks—what more could a girl ask for?
San Francisco/Napa Valley
Fort Collins, Colorado
We enjoyed a stopover in Fort Collins, Colorado, on the way to a wedding in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This college town is totally worth exploring! Have breakfast at Lucile’s, shop the cute downtown area, and pay a visit to New Belgium Brewing Company.
We had a blast exploring Cheyenne during my friend’s wedding weekend and enjoyed taking in some of the nearby natural attractions.
Asheville, North Carolina
Asheville has long been on my list. Another excellent wedding destination, we enjoyed the laid-back, funky vibes of downtown Asheville. Also, any day I get to enjoy a rocking chair on a porch is a great day in my book!
South Beach, Miami Beach, Florida
The #12 destination on Condé Nast Traveler’s 16 Best Places to Visit in 2016 list, Miami was well worth the visit. We enjoyed amazing seats at the Titans vs Dolphins game, beautiful beach views, and an afternoon or two at Monty’s.
Dublin, Ireland was the perfect long weekend getaway! Okay, so we could have definitely spent more time in Ireland, and even in Dublin, but this trip was just the adventure that B & I were wanting when we squeezed a quick 30th birthday trip into a hectic fall schedule. We loved meeting friendly locals, hearing authentic Irish music, and generally enjoying the sights and sounds of a new European city. Seems we weren’t alone in our love for Dublin, as it too made The New York Times’ list of 52 Places to Go in 2016 (clocking in at #22!).
B’s dear friends invited us to visit their home in Knoxville over the weekend to enjoy a UT football game. Not only was it fun to visit with loved ones, we enjoyed amazing views at Neyland Stadium and had a blast bowling at Maple Hall.
2016 has been one for the books! How has your year been?
